My best friend is leaving! She's leaving California casual for the cosmopolitan crowds of New York. I guess loss is a theme for me this year. Her new abode is a tiny sliver of an apartment with huge rent. It has made me think about how much one can live without. You have to get very creative in a tiny space. When storage space is premium, rooms have to serve double duty. You have to make tough decisions about what stays and what has to go. I know I can't live without books and art. Luckily, my friend has an incredible flair for turning any space into a fabulously cozy nook and I can't wait to visit her.
I'm smiling, you haven't lost your best friend she's only relocating. My best friend lives clear across the country from me too but thanks to the invention of the phone and computers it's like she's always there. So chin up and just think now you have an inexpensive place to stay in NYC!

Gosh, it's nice to be back and visiting your blog. I have really missed you. I was in Kansas taking care of my mother. She fell and broke her hip, so I went home to take care of her when she was released from the hospital. I'm sorry you're best friend is moving, and I know you will miss her, but you will always be close in the heart. We are so lucky to have computers to keep in touch.
